Eind oktober kwam ik op een van mn zwerftochten op internet het symposium ‘The Artist and the Garden’ tegen (www.gardenmuseum.org.uk). Met een korte omschrijving die mij erg aansprak. Het zou plaatsvinden op 10 nov. in de UK. Deelname was niet de bedoeling, maar nieuwsgierig was ik wel. Een email gestuurd en gevraagd of er ook een paper of andere publicatie zou volgen. Vandaag pas antwoord (met excuses): nee, was niet de bedoeling en er was ook geen budget.

Waarom dan toch deze vermelding? Lees het onderstaande en misschien, misschien voelt iemand zich wel geinspireerd tot het opzetten van iets soortgelijks voor en in Nederland…  JH

‘The Artist and the Garden’, a symposium to explore the use of artists’ views as evidence in garden history and conservation.

This is the first Symposium for Garden Historians and those involved in the restoration of Historic gardens and landscapes to explore artistsxe2x80x99 views of gardens as a source of evidence for the history and conservation of gardens. Do pictures tell the truth about gardens of the past? Six speakers present case studies of gardens, artists, and artistic media.
